Chia seeds are great to include in your diet all year round, especially in winter when they can be used to make a delicious replacement for porridge. You’re going to love this chia seed and fruit breakfast jar, it’s so easy to make and gluten-free too. Chia seeds are loaded with insoluble fiber and healthy fats, making them wonderful immune boosters, but not only that they’re loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, which are great at helping us with mood and seasonal depression. They also have the ability to hold up to 12 times their weight in water and this reaction is believed to form a barrier in the digestive system, which means the conversion of carbohydrates into sugar is slower, making them a slow release energy source, keeping you fuller for longer. The perfect food enhancer for endurance training and diabetics, as they help to level blood sugar. I love using chia seeds in my baking, desserts and they can be eaten anytime of day ~ go on try something new and give this chia seed and fruit breakfast jar a go, you know you want too! It’s seriously satisfying, delicious and you can make it the night before, to take on the go and have when that hungry feeling strikes. I hope you enjoy as much as I do!

chia seed breakfast_LG

  • 3 TBSP chia seeds
  • 1.5 cups hazelnut/almond milk
  • Seasonal fruit (in winter I like, banana, blueberries and dried fruit)
  • Toasted coconut for extra crunch
  • drizzle of honey
  • Whole lotta love

Soak your chia seeds in a glass jar for at least 20 minutes before use. When ready they will go from being little seeds to a gooey substance as per my photo. You can leave chia seeds in water in the refrigerator for several days, so they can be easily added to smoothies or have ready for porridge. I like making this the night before and adding fruits of my choice in the morning. I like using hazelnut/almond milk and experimenting with different toppings (make it your own).

Serve with a cup of herbal tea, big smile and enjoy!
