Essential Oils to Keep You Healthy!

It’s not often I put up any adverts for products and when I do I really believe in them and use them myself. One health tool I have been using for a number of years is essential oils, they are part of my life. I’ve been ummm and arring about oils I trust and one brand that has really impressed me is Young Living essential oils. They are therapeutic grade oils that offer natural remedies to life’s imbalances. Essential oils create true wellness when in their raw form, as an ingredient in nutritional supplements, or as part of essential living. I will be doing blogs on how you can use oils to enhance your life through wellness, beauty, home and pet care as I really want to spread the word of how life changing and amazing oils can be for you too.

Here are a few essential oils I love

FrankinsenceFrankincense (Boswellia carteri) has a sweet, warm, balsamic aroma that is stimulating and elevating to the mind. I like putting a drop of this on my third eye, behind my ears or on my wrists as it’s a useful oils for visualising, improving one’s spiritual connection and centring. It has comforting properties that help with focusing the mind on the positive.

Frankincense is considered a holy anointing oil in the Middle East, where it has been used in religious ceremonies for thousands of years. Frankincense is also great for DIY home skin care products even the ancient Egyptians used it in rejuvenation face masks.

I love the story behind how Thieves blend was created (that is a whole post in itself) but for this all you need to know is Thieves has been university tested and found to be highly effective against airborne bacteria. It’s a blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon, rosemary and eucalyptus radiata. This powerful blend can help you get the house clean and the perfect defense against germs for you and your family when you’re out and about!

jasmineJasmine (Jasminum officinale) is actually an absolute rather than an essential oil, which means that it is obtained by extracting oil from the flowers with a solvent. It has a warm, exotic, floral fragrance that relaxes, soothes, uplifts, and enhances self-confidence. Jasmine is beneficial for the appearance of the skin. It has been used throughout history for romance and attraction and for balancing the feminine energy of the body. I use it instead of perfume as always get compliments on how wonderful I smell or ‘what’s that perfume you’re wearing’

lemonLemon (Citrus limon) has a strong, clean, purifying citrus scent that is revitalising and uplifting. It is delightfully refreshing in water and may be beneficial for the skin’s appearance. Did you forget to buy lemon’s to have in your morning detoxing warm water and lemon? Well you can use a few drops of this instead, not only that you can use it in your DIY home cleaning products too. Have you seen my article The Limitless Lemon? You will see why I love lemons so much, as when they are out of season or I’m travelling this oil is perfect!

lavendarLavender (Lavandula angustifolia) has a fresh, sweet, floral, herbaceous aroma that is soothing and refreshing. Because it is the most versatile of all essential oils, no home should be without it. It is great for winding down before bedtime, yet has balancing properties that make it just as beneficial for stimulating and energising. Therapeutic-grade lavender is highly regarded for skin and beauty. It may be used to cleanse the skin and in summer it helps keeps those bugs away.

Peppermint (Mentha piperita) has a strong, clean, fresh, minty aroma. One of the oldest and most highly regarded herbs for soothing digestion, keeping insects especially ants away and one drop can freshen your breath. Alan Hirsch MD studied peppermint’s ability to directly affect the brain’s satiety center, which triggers a sensation of fullness after meals (way better than those sugary mints that don’t do much).

Pan Away is made from a blend of wintergreen, clove, peppermint and helichrysum this is a good one to have on hand incase of an injury as it helps reduce inflammation and bruising. Perfect if you are a little accident prone like me! It’s also great to relieve a headache, growing pains, arthritic hands and sciatic pain.

A gentle, fragrant blend of tangerine, orange, ylang ylang, patchouli and blue tansy, specially designed for diffusing. It promotes relaxation and a deep sense of peace, helping to calm tensions and uplift spirits. Also great to help stop nocturnal teeth grinding, diffuse Peace & Calming oil while sleeping.

With over 300 unique therapeutic-grade essential oils. There’s options that will satisfy virtually any health, dietary or emotional goal, as well as transform your home into a safer, greener and more positive environment.
